Day 40 without playing golf
The answer to the all-time longest drive quiz is D., 515 yards.
Mind boggling, huh?
And get this: It was struck by a 64-year-old man with a persimmon driver in the 1974 U.S. National Seniors Open Championship in Las Vegas. That’s 31 years ago, the dark ages of golf technology.
The man’s name was Mike Austin. He died last week.
"It was like God held the ball in the air," said Austin’s wife Tanya, who witnessed the drive. God and a 27-mph tail wind. But still, 515 yards. Sheeeez.
By the way, second place belongs to Davis Love with a drive of 476 yards.
